How cool would it be to go dog sledding? Tour the scenic Shasta/ Trinity National Forest, while silently being pulled by high energy canines.

Dog sledding trips are family fun.

All this excitement begins only 20 minutes from Shasta Ranch Lodge.

Dog SleddingJanuary 22nd through 25th, 2009, is the Siskiyou 220, an Iditarod Qualifier. This is California's very first Iditarod qualifying event.

The Iditarod is an annual sled dog race held in Alaska. This race covers over 1,100 miles of whiteout conditions, sub-zero weather, and wind chill temperatures reaching -100F.

Beginning over 35 years ago, the Iditarod started as a challenge for the best sled dog mushers and teams. Today it has evolved into Alaska's most popular sporting event.
