January 22nd through 25th, 2009, is the Siskiyou 220, an Iditarod Qualifier. This is California's very first Iditarod qualifying event.

The Iditarod is an annual sled dog race held in Alaska. This race covers over 1,100 miles of whiteout conditions, sub-zero weather, and wind chill temperatures reaching -100F.

Beginning over 35 years ago, the Iditarod started as a challenge for the best sled dog mushers and teams. Today it has evolved into Alaska's most popular sporting event.
